A: Beam It Up Scotty is a service that allows anybody to quickly send
their favorite image, audio or video file to their cellphone. It will be
automatically converted into a cellphone compatible file format.
After the file has been uploaded to our system, you can choose to
compress it to reduce download time and transfer costs.
After conversion, we will send an SMS/text message with a download link to your
cellphone. Using this link you can download the file to your phone.
A: Beam It Up Scotty is completely free of charge :-)
Please be aware, that - depending on your contract -your provider may charge you for the file transfer.
For details please contact your cellphone provider.
A: Beam It Up Scotty accepts most file types.
However the full compression capabilities only work with common
multimedia files like .jpg, .gif, .mpg, .avi, .flv and many more.
Files types we do not recognize, can be compressed using the zip format.
A: For video playback your cellphone has to support the .3gp format (AAC Audio format).
For Audio playback your phone has to support .mp3 playback. Most modern cellphones will support both.
If you have problems while downloading a file or during playback please send us an email to contact(at)beamitupscotty.com including a description of the error and the name of your mobile device.
A: All files will be available on our server for at least one month.
A: There is a limit of 6 SMS/text messages per user per day.
A: You may upload files up to 100 MB.
No! We will only use your private information (e.g. your email address or your
cellphone number) for sending the text message.
As we are located in Germany, all information submitted to us is covered by very strict German data protection laws.
